Position Overview:

We are seeking a Head of Tax and Accounting to be a key leader in the Operations Division. The position requires an ability to manage, analyze, and refine key processes, within tax, accounting, audit and financial reporting processes.

An ideal candidate for this role is someone with deep tax, accounting, audit, and CFO experience, and with stellar management and administrative experience. The person should possess strong leadership skills, be able to work in a fast-paced environment, and be capable of professional and clear communication (both written and oral) with clients and colleagues throughout the company.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include leading all tax and accounting deliverables, while ensuring that our services are provided to our clients with accuracy and timeliness.

Overseeing the tax teams responsibilities, and managing the accounting teams responsible for K-1 and alternative asset reconciliation and preparation of custom financial reports to meet clients audit, budgetary, and periodic needs. The position will require interfacing directly with clients, their advisors, outside accounting and audit firms, as well as continual collaboration with colleagues throughout the company.

IRS Notices
Management of responsibilities and deliverables of Tax Team:
Prepare private foundation tax returns (IRS Forms 990PF and 990T, and all accompanying forms) and extensions
Calculate and review quarterly estimates
Draft responses to client tax comments and questions
Research and draft responses to correspondence received from tax authorities (mostly in the form of IRS Notices)
Analyze Minimum Distribution Requirements
Other tax related projects as requested by management
Management of Financial Accounting Deliverables

Development of processes and system improvements for accounting teams
Organizational strategy and development, and process improvement
Efficiency improvement across divisions and enhance customer experience
Ensure the departments service deliverables and responsibilities are met:
Preparation of custom financial statements, budget and ad-hoc reports for our clients
Trial Balance and workpaper preparation in connection with audit support engagements
Support the month/year end close process through the research/resolution of open issues
Record book to tax adjustments as they relate certain tax matters across various asset types
Client payroll reconciliation and review

Client Communication, Training, and Resolution

Subject matter expert and liaison to our clients and other departments regarding tax and accounting matters.

People Leadership

Recruitment and hiring for tax and accounting teams
Setting training and onboarding standards for accountants
HR system (Paylocity) administration
Performance review (Paylocity) administration
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Excellent leadership skills
Excellent technical and analytical skills
Strong ability to learn quickly and take initiative
Strong ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects while ensuring internal SLAs and deadlines are met
Strong ability to identify problems and recommend solutions in a demanding and fast-paced environment
Strong knowledge of software applications and mastery of computer and web-based products not limited to MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, finance software, and Salesforce; experience with GoSystem Tax preferred
Preferred Education Level:

Masters Degree
CPA Required
